Guntersville State Park is well known for its Eagle Awareness programs, guided nature hikes and interpretive programs. We offer some of the finest activities to help you enjoy all Mother Nature has to offer. Unless noted, all programs are free. So sit back, relax, refresh, and re-invigorate.

Every Saturday, Guided Nature Hikes
Departs from the Country Store or Park Office at 9 a.m.

Take to the woods on a guided nature hike. A park naturalist provides you with an entertaining and informative program on any one of a number of trails. Hikes follow gentle to moderate trails and last approximately 2 hours. Bring water and snacks and be sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothing. Don't forget your camera! You never know when a deer or eagle might make an appearance.

Year 2008 Events

January - Eagle Awareness Weekends Get a bird's eye view of one of America's greatest symbols, the Bald Eagle. Guided interpretive programs to nesting sites, fireside chats, and fine dining at Guntersville State Park's Pinecrest Dining Room are just some of the many features of this weekend retreat. Event held every weekend in January. Hours of event vary.

April 19 3rd Annual Riverside Trash Round-up The waters of Lake Guntersville are home to a variety of fish, waterfowl, and other marine life. Join us as we work to clean debris from the banks in an effort to maintain the purity of the lake and provide a sustainable environment for our wildlife. Event begins at 2 p.m.

April 26 Wild About Wetlands Learn all about the wetlands of Lake Guntersville in this guided interpretive program. Event begins at 2 p.m.

May 17 Wildflower Saturday Enjoy spring along the trails in beautiful Guntersville State Park. This guided interpretive hike provides a wonderful introduction to the many species of plants found along the banks of the Tennessee River and along the miles of hiking trails within the park. Event begins at 2 p.m.

June 21 "Trail of Trees" Tree Identification This guided nature hike along mild to moderate trails teaches you all about the variety of hardwoods and evergreens that blanket the forests of Guntersville State Park. Event begins at 2 p.m.

July 19 Butterflies of Lake Guntersville Butterflies flock to the wildflowers, rhododendron, wild azaleas, sweet shrub and other blooming species of plants in Guntersville State Park. Take a guided nature hike and view these magnificent  winged creatures in action. Bring your camera! Event begins at 2 p.m.

October 25 Fall Color Hike Autumn is ablaze with color throughout the forests and along the banks of Lake Guntersville. A guided nature hike will have you in awe of nature's beauty. Be sure to bring your camera. You won't want to miss a moment of autumn foliage at its finest in Guntersville State Park. Event begins at 2 p.m.

October 25 Halloween Haunted Hay Ride Fun for the whole family! Enjoy a spooky time in the wooded setting of Guntersville State Park. Event begins at dusk.
